Born and raised in western Michigan, Rev. Matt Ro is the founding and lead pastor of Journey Church of Atlanta. Upon his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, he spent three years in the marketplace, after which he attended Biblical Seminary, PA where he received his Master of Divinity. He currently resides in Atlanta, GA with his wife Julia and their two daughters.
After becoming a follower of Christ at age 17 in New York, the Lord called Robin into ministry while in undergrad at Wheaton College. In 2008, he became the pastor at Living Hope, which was originally an English ministry of a Taiwanese church. Over the years, the Lord has grown that church from a youth group to a growing, multi-ethnic church within the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Pastor Robin is married to his beautiful bride and incredible ministry partner Jenny and together they have two precious daughters, Abbie and Annabelle.
Pastor Brian serves as the lead pastor at Restoration Community Church in Naperville, IL. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology (New Testament) from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Before Restoration, Brian was an associate pastor at Calvary English Chapel in Wheeling and a youth and singles pastor at the Korean Church of Chicago in Hoffman Estates. He also worked with youth overseas in Guam. He is ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
Reverend KJ Kim is an associate pastor at Covenant Fellowship Church since 2008 and currently serves as the education pastor. He graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Math Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, upon which he taught middle school students for six years. He eventually received his Master of Divinity from Covenant Seminary in 2008. He is a diehard Cubs fan and loves hanging with his family and playing basketball when he has free time. He is married to Susie and they are blessed with four children: Sarah, Eunice, Mary, and Samuel.
Dr. Sang Caleb Kim received his Bachelors and Masters in Anatomy at the University of Illinois and his medical degree at Midwestern Medical School, IL. He has served in the past in youth groups, with the college ministry at CFC, and on an elder board. He also provides personal/marriage counseling and lectures/teaches in various churches. He is a family practice physician and currently resides in Dallas, TX with his wife, Sora and his kids Joseph, Anna, and Yohann.
Rev. Paul Chi is the lead pastor of Harvest Church of Madison, located in the heart of the University of Wisconsin. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Illinois and received his Master of Divinity from Biblical Theological Seminary. He and his wife Sojin are proud parents of Daniel and Karis.
Pastor Edward Kim received his call to ministry during his undergraduate years at the University of Chicago. Pursuing that call has led him to many places of study including Princeton, Gordon-Conwell, and Regent College. He has pastored churches in Chicago, New York, and Vancouver, B.C., and spoken at many conferences across the United States and abroad. Presently, he is working on a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at Trinity Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. His specific area of research and personal passion is in spirituality, dealing with how people come to commune with the living God.
Rev. Jung Lee is the pastor of Covenant Life Church, a church plant started in September 2010 at the University of Minnesota. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Master of Divinity from Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, PA, and is ordained in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). He served as an associate pastor at Covenant Fellowship Church in Champaign, IL for thirteen years (1997-2010) caring for the needs of college students and young adults. He is married to Christine and they are proud parents of four sons, Enoch, Daniel, Abel and Ezra. He is passionate about raising a healthy Christ-centered family and leading others to center their lives around Christ.
Dr. Steve Lee is the lead pastor at Immanuel Community Church. Prior to coming to Immanuel, Steve served as a missionary doctor and educator with Africa Inland Mission, International, for five years in Kenya, Africa. For four years he served as a medical director of AIC Kapsowar Hospital in western Kenya. In his last year on the field, he taught at Scott Theological College in Machakos, Kenya. He and his wife, Betty, have five children: Joy, Noelle, Luke, Bethany, and Judah.
Dr. Elizabeth Lightbody is the Professor of Intercultural Studies at Moody College, where she has been teaching since 1990. She was a missionary in the Philippines for 23 years with SEND International in the areas of higher education and church planting. She serves each summer overseas with Moody students in teaching and mentoring experiences. She is a member of the Evangelical Missiological Society. We are privileged to have her with us again this year.
Thomas Kim is an entrepreneur and angel investor in the Chicago area. With a passion for marketplace missions, Thomas has maintained a full-time job alongside various ministry responsibilities for much of his career. Formerly, he served as the Executive Director of Churches Helping Churches, a ministry that helped churches recover from the 2010 Haiti Earthquake and 2011 Japan Tsunami. From 2002-2007, Thomas served as the youth pastor at Calvary Presbyterian Church. He has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Mitch Kim served at West Alliance Church for sixteen years until he was commissioned by that church to plant Living Water in 2011. He was born in southern California, raised in Tokyo, and educated in Chicago. He was called into ministry while studying philosophy as an undergraduate at Wheaton College (B.A.) and trained for ministry at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for his M.Div. After five years of full-time ministry, he returned to study Biblical Theology at Wheaton College Graduate School (M.A., Biblical Exegesis; Ph.D. New Testament Biblical Theology), where he has also taught as an adjunct instructor. His hobbies include running, playing with his daughters Elise (b. 2002), Ana (b. 2004) and Eden (b. 2010) and drinking good coffee with his wife Eunsil. Favorite authors include Wendell Berry, Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Jonathan Edwards. He is ordained in the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
